Holly Matilda

I have discovered that rather than an obsession with finding the 'right style' in my illustrations,  my creative ambitions stem from the desire to convey an atmosphere that is received by the spectator as eerie and mysterious with a trace of magic, squeezing in elements representing the cosmic infinity!
The growing collections of decorative, deteriorating, peculiar and eclectic findings that occupy my house influence the elaborateness and complexity of the imagery I create.
I tend to start working in black and white, using pencil or pens to draw faces, distorting their features to create a surreal twist on realism. I then work around these with narrative-driven patterns, art nouvelle influenced compositions, embellishment and often using my distinctive hand-writing to tie-together bodies of work.
